Subject: 20875/Erlanger-Co/PropTransfr/FamPractCtr Date: Fri, 29 Dec 1995 12:32:10 -0500 RESOLUTION NO. 20875 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE DEEDS AND OTHER CLOSING DOCUMENTS CONVEYING CERTAIN PROPERTY TO THE CHATTANOOGA HAMILTON COUNTY HOSPITAL AUTHORITY. WHEREAS, Hamilton County and the City of Chattanooga jointly own property located in the Third Street and Central Avenue area identified as State Tax Map Nos. 146A-M-006 and 146A-M-007 which is currently used as unpaved parking for Engel Stadium; and WHEREAS, the City and County also jointly own (through previous delinquent tax sales) two adjacent parcels of property identified as State Tax Map Nos. 146A-M-012 and 146A-M-004, one of which is currently leased to the Chattanooga Hamilton County Hospital Authority for parking and the other vacant; and WHEREAS, as an additional component of the UT Medical School Program, Erlanger Medical Center has been approved to establish a Family Practice Facility which will be used as a clinical site for patient care and training of medical residents; and WHEREAS, the proposed Family Practice Center must be located on or near the Erlanger Medical Center campus and be easily accessible and open to the public; and 0C WHEREAS, the most desirable location for such a facility is on the property located at the southeast corner of Third Street and Central Avenue, some of which is currently owned by the Chattanooga Hamilton County Hospital Authority and by the City and County; and WHEREAS, Erlanger requests that the City and County transfer approximately .56 acre along with driveway easements to the Hospital Authority to add to the property at Third and Central currently owned by Erlanger to permit the construction of the Family Practice Center and to transfer to the Hospital Authority the back-tax lot currently leased by Erlanger; and WHEREAS, in return for the transfer of property Erlanger agrees to spend approximately $260,000 for improvements to the City- and County-owned property at Third and O'Neal Streets currently used by Engel Stadium, said improvements more particularly described on the Proposed Agreement of Cost for Property Improvements attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference; and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Chattanooga for a Family Practice Center to be constructed to serve the community; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the request by Erlanger for the property transfer be granted and that the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute deeds and any other necessary documents to accomplish the transfer in return for the improvements to the City- and County-owned property as outlined in the Proposed Agreement of Cost for Property Improvements and shown on the site plan for the Family Practice Center, copies of which are attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference thereto as though completely copied verbatim herein.
